Harold Henry Dercks

August 11, 1922 — May 24, 2011

Harold H. “Scuts” Dercks, age 88, of Appleton, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Meadow View Assisted Living in Bonduel. Scuts was born in Little Chute August 11, 1922, a son of the late Nick and Rose (Jansen) Dercks. He married Lily Gerondale in 1944; she preceded him in death on August 13, 1981. He later married Dorothy Moritz in October 1983.

Scuts served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII; He was employed at Kimberly Clark (Midtec) for 44 years, retiring May 1984. He enjoyed gardening, growing vegetables, flowers, plants and raising pigeons and canaries; he was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Kimberly; and the American Legion William Verhagen Post 60 in Kimberly.

He is survived by his two sons, Robert (Ellyn) Dercks, Clintonville, and Jeff (Deb) Dercks, Kaukauna; three sisters, Irene Verhagen, Little Chute, Dolores (Duane) Vanderloop, Kaukauna, and Joan (Lefty) Geurts, Kaukauna; two brothers, Russell (Myra) Dercks, Little Chute, and Tom (Muggs) Dercks, Combined Locks; six grandchildren, Jill (Jeff) Rechner, Neenah, Kris (Ellen) Kelderman, Virginia, Jaime Dercks, Little Chute, Stacy Dercks, DePere, Andy Dercks, Clintonville, and Kory Dercks, Clintonville; three sisters-in-law, Ann Dercks, Little Chute, Clara Dercks, Little Chute, and Bernice Dercks, Little Chute.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Kelderman; four sisters, Julia Reichel, Mutzie Helms, Eleanor Mahn, and Lavern Dercks; five brothers, James, David, Paul, Gene, and Roger; four brothers-in-law, Mark Verhagen, Cyril Reichel, Virgil Helms, and Harvey Mahn.

Funeral service will be held on Friday May 27, 2011 at 11:00 am, at HOLY SPIRIT CATHOLIC CHURCH, 600 East Kimberly Ave, Kimberly, with Fr. Don Everts officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am until the hour of service. Inurnment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
