Harold Ernest Kapitzke

Harold E. Kapitzke, 95, Appleton, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2017, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton. He was born on May 28, 1922, in Weyauwega, the son of Ernest and Martha (Thiel) Kapitzke. Harold honorably served in the U.S. Army during WWII, from April 25, 1946 to June 6, 1947, and proudly served in the Manila Philippine Islands, and in Okinowa, Japan. He was united in marriage to Marjorie (Hirnschall) Greil, on July 26, 1969, in Waukegan, IL, and they have shared 48 years together. Harold loved bowling, gardening, tinkering with anything mechanical, playing guitar and fishing. He was also an avid Brewers and Packers fan.

Harold is survived by his wife: Marjorie; 7 children: Judy Merrill, Brenda (Scott) Van Dinter, Lisa (Jerry) Chosa, Brian Kapitzke, Cheryl Kapitzke, Susie Greil, and Donna Strachan; 12 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; other relatives, and friends.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; 2 children: Shirley Kosmerchock and Louis Greil; as well as 4 brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, on Friday, November 17, 2017, at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, 537 N. SUPERIOR ST., with Rev. Adam Bode officiating. Visitation will be on Friday at the funeral home from 9:30 am until the time of the service.
