Harold D. Dreier

Harold Dreier, age 84, was called home to the arms of his waiting Lord on Wednesday, May 12, 2010. Harold was born in Sandy Lake, Pennsylvania on January 11, 1926, son of the late Nicholas and Alma (Volz) Dreier. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Autauga which was stationed in the Pacific Theatre from 1944 until 1946. On August 6, 1949, Harold married the former Joann Thern at Emanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in New London. Joann preceded him in death in 2007. For many years, he worked in the meat departments of various supermarkets in the Chilton and Appleton areas. He was a longtime and faithful member of Riverview Ev. Lutheran Church in Appleton where he served on the Stewardship Committee for several years. He also worked alongside his good friend, Larry Waldhart, preparing many tasty church dinners.

Harold is survived by a son: Dirk (Barb) Dreier; a daughter: Minka (James Jr.) Greely; two grandchildren: Justyn Denney and Danielle Denney; a brother: Donald (Linda) Dreier; a sister: Kathryn Rogers; sisters-in-law: Janet Dreier, Kathy Manske, Marj Dreier, and Marlene Wegner; two brothers-in-law: Ken (Peg) Thern and Ralph Thern. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joann in 2007, brothers Louis Dreier, William Dreier, and Robert (Dawn) Dreier; brothers-in-law Jay Rogers and Don Wegner, and a sister-in-law Dorothy Thern.

The Christian Funeral for Harold will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at RIVERVIEW EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 136 W. Seymour Street in Appleton, with Rev. Adam Bode officiating. Full military honors will follow the service. Inurnment will be in Mosquito Hill Cemetery in the town of Liberty. Friends may call directly at the church on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
