Harold "Butch" Berger

Harold “Butch” Berger, age 70 of Appleton, passed into Jesus' arms on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at the Appleton Medical Center. Butch was born in Milwaukee on January 19, 1946, son of the late Walter and Frieda (Wex) Berger. He was a graduate of Milwaukee Custer High School, and served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1965 until 1967 and was awarded the Purple Heart for his heroism. On May 19, 1973, he married the former Judith Seng; she unexpectedly preceded him in death in 2000. Butch was a lifelong truck driver, first working for a moving company, and later drove truck for the United States Postal Service.

He is survived by two loving children and their families: Rev. Benjamin (Heather) Berger of Neenah and their children Eliana and Andrew; and Tracey (Chad) Ratzburg of Appleton and their children Jacob and Bryce; a brother: Walter (Diane) Berger of Milwaukee; two sisters-in-law: Rosemary Pies of Germantown and Patricia Seng of Benton, Wisconsin; and a brother-in-law: Barry Seng of Illinois. Butch was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Judy, and brothers Ralph (Diane) Berger and Donald Berger.

The Christian Funeral Service for Butch will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at MOUNT OLIVE EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 930 W. Florida Avenue in Appleton, with Rev. Jasper Sellnow officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather directly at the church on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. Full military honors will follow the service, and in lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Butch's name.
