Age 83, passed away unexpectedly at Appleton Medical Center in Appleton on Tuesday, October 3, 2006. Harlon was born in the Town of Ellington on August 11, 1923, son of the late Emil and Marie (Ort) Jentz. He married his wife of almost 60 years, Elaine Bartz, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Appleton on October 12, 1946. He operated his dairy farm in the Town of Ellington where he also served as a volunteer fire fighter. Bowling was one of his favorite activities. Harlon was a kind and giving person with a friendly smile for everyone he knew. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchild.

Harlon is survived by his wife, Elaine; children: Daniel (Lesly) Jentz of Barrington, IL, Robert (Vickie) Jentz, Mark (Pam) Jentz, both of the Town of Ellington; grandchildren: Melissa (Mike) Cote and Dustin Jentz, Brian and Bradley Jentz, Michael, Christopher and Lindsay Jentz; great-grandchild: Taylor Ann; brother: Jerald (Irene) Jentz; sister: Evelyn Huebner; brother-in-law: Earl Ziegler. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Benjamin Jentz; brothers: Vernon and Lloyd Jentz; sisters: Mildred Hoier and Joyce Ziegler; and brothers-in-law, Gerald Huebner and Leland Hoier.

The funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2006 at St. John Lutheran Church, Hwy 47 North, Town of Center, with Rev. Jeffrey Suhr officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Entombment will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park immediately following the service.

The family extends a special thank you to the medical emergency responders and the staff at Appleton Medical Center for their outstanding and compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Harlon’s name is being established for St. John Lutheran Church.
