Gretchen C. Boughton

September 16, 1939 — February 3, 2009

Gretchen Boughton, age 69, of Hortonville, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 3, 2009, with her husband at her side. Gretchen was born in Appleton on September 16, 1939, daughter of the late Edwin and Gerda (Leisering) Krueger. On March 25, 1961, she married Robert Boughton at Riverview Ev. Lutheran Church in Appleton.

Over the years, Gretchen worked at various jobs including Bruce Publishing in Milwaukee, St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Research, Zwicker's Knitting Mill, teaching dance at Arthur Murray's, and fondly remembered her work at Casa Clare II and Rehab in Neenah. Gretchen also volunteered her time doing homecare as an ARC Angel, at the AAA Pregnancy Resource Center (now known as the Center of Hope), worked at the Dale Food Pantry, and also danced with the Tapping Rhythmettes. Prior to moving to Hortonville, the family was active at Bethel Ev. Lutheran Church in Menasha where Gretchen sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. Following their move to the Hortonville area, she became an active and faithful member of Bethlehem Ev. Lutheran Church. Gretchen was pleased to serve all who needed her and considered it a joy to be of help to others.

She leaves behind her husband of forty-seven years: Robert Boughton of Hortonville; four children: Daniel (Karen) Boughton of Hortonville and their children Bryce, Nicole, and Sara; Timothy (Angela) Boughton of Black Creek and their children Nicholas, Alexzandria, and Coulter; Erick (Laura) Boughton of Morton Grove, Illinois and their daughter Elizabeth; and Jennifer (Jon) Carrick of Clintonville. She is also survived by a sister: Joan Brouillard of Appleton; a brother: Jeff (Sandy) Krueger of Appleton; and a sister-in-law: Ruth Krueger of Greenville. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Gretchen was preceded in death by her parents, an infant granddaughter Kyra Carrick; brothers Thomas Krueger and John Krueger; a brother-in-law: Jack Brouillard.

The Christian Funeral for Gretchen will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at BETHLEHEM EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 203 N. Nash Street in Hortonville with Rev. Matthew Duin officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior Street in Appleton, on Friday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM, and again on Saturday at the church from 10:00 AM until the hour of the worship service.

The family would like to thank the many dear friends and relatives who remembered Gretchen with cards, visits, prayers, support, and kindness during these past few months. Your thoughtfulness was very special to Gretchen. In lieu of flowers, the family will be making a memorial contribution toward cancer research.

Gretchen was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She very much enjoyed her years at home raising and caring for her family, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
