Gregory W. Martin

Gregory W. Martin, 60, a wonderful loving husband, father and grandfather passed away February 1, 2021 at UW Madison Hospital with his wife and two daughters by his side.

Greg was born on May 18, 1960 in Wisconsin Rapids to Joseph & Elaine (Yoss) Martin. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1978 and went on to earn his Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Design from Mid-State Technical College. Greg married his high school sweetheart Brenda (Anunson) Martin and they moved to Appleton.

Greg was an avid golfer; he went regularly with his golf buddies.  He got a hole in one May 14, 2015 while golfing with his league team at Mid Vallee Golf. Greg cherished spending time up north with his family at the cabin. He also enjoyed fishing trips to Canada with family and friends. His knowledge of useless trivia was endless and will be deeply missed.

Greg is survived by his loving wife of forty years Brenda; and their daughters; Amanda (Jim) Slomski, Neenah, Katie (Gavin) DeCleene, Appleton and grandsons Miles Slomski, Levi and Silas DeCleene.

Greg is further survived by his mother Elaine, sister Jerilyn (Jim) Anderson, brother Jon (Donna) Martin, sister-in-law Deb Martin, mother-in-law Marlyn Alft, and sister-in-law Darla (Duane) Doescher. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Martin, brother Gary Martin, grandson Aiden Slomski, father-in-law Lee Anunson, and father-in-law Carl Alft.

We will miss Greg more than he could ever realize. He loved being a father and grandfather. The boys had the best Gpa ever!

We hope in heaven the fish are biting, the cigars are big, the old fashions are strong and the fries are crispy!

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2020 East College Avenue, Appleton. There will be visitation starting at 9:00 am with service to follow at 11:00am.
