Glen L. Sheveland

Glen L. Sheveland, age 91, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Appleton Medical Center after a short illness. He was born January 10, 1920 at Scandinavia, Wisconsin. Glen was a U.S. Army veteran and served in World War II. He was a member of the Waupaca VFW Post 1037 for the past 60 years. Glen also worked for the Local 577 IBEW Electrical Union until his retirement in 1984.

On January 28, 1947, Glen and Eleanor Rader were joined in marriage. They resided in Waupaca and Appleton and spent their winters in Arizona for 19 years after his retirement. They enjoyed traveling with their family and friends throughout the U.S.

Glen is survived by his wife, Eleanor Sheveland, whom he shared 64 years of marriage; 5 daughters: Mary (Neal) Folz of Wisconsin Rapids, Linda and Karen of Appleton, Julie (Jon) Counsell of Neillsville and Glenna of Raleigh, NC. Glen is also survived by 3 grandsons: Tim (Kristy), Chad and Dereck (Heather) Folz, granddaughter, Keri (Mike) Likes and 3 great-granddaughters. Glen was preceded in death by his father, mother, three sisters and one brother.

Funeral Services for Glen will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 3, 2011 at the Wichmann Funeral Home, with Fr. Gerald Falk officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place at St. Mary Cemetery in Waupaca.

The family would like to thank the staff at Appleton Medical Center and the Hospice unit for the care they provided for Glen in his final days.
