Glen H. Meinert

Glen Meinert, age 84, passed away on Saturday, June26, 2010 at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna. Glen was born in Kaukauna on December 3, 1925, son of the late Henry and Mathilda (Perleberg) Meinert. During World War II, he served in the United States Navy, and upon his return took up a pipefitting apprenticeship at Thilmany Pulp and Paper. Glen retired from Thilmany after forty-four dedicated years. Glen was married to the former Arlette Blaha; she preceded him in death in 2000. He was also a member of the Kaukauna American Legion Post #41 and Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing and bowling, and always looked forward to visiting Ellen when she lived in Chippewa Falls. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his children and granddaughters.

Glen is survived by two children: Mark Meinert of Kaukauna and his special friend Peggy Stone, and Beth (Doug) Olson of Freedom; two granddaughters: Michelle and Karissa Meinert; a sister: Gladys Giebisch of Menasha; and three sisters-in-law: Dolores Meinert of Kaukauna, Vivian (Dan) Sachs of New London, and Norrine (Doug) Devenport of West Bend, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Arlette in 2000, a daughter Ellen in 2008, a brother Art, and a sister Jean (Harold) Frederick.

The Christian Funeral for Glen will be held at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at TRINITY EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 804 Grignon Street in Kaukauna with Rev. Karl Schultz officiating. Military honors will follow the worship service. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call directly at the church on Tuesday afternoon from 4:30 PM until the time of the service.
