GIEBISCH, GLADYS A.

Gladys A. Giebisch, age 88, of Appleton, passed away on November 13, 2010, at Appleton Medical Center. Gladys was born on July 18, 1922, in Kaukauna, to the late Henry and Mathilda (Perleberg) Meinert. She married Gordon R. Giebisch on October 16, 1941, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Kaukauna; he preceded her in death on June 1, 2009. She was employed by Lawrence University for 19 years, retiring in 1984. She was a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church, a Sunday School teacher for many years, was an avid Packer fan, enjoyed card playing and—as her family and friends will attest—was the best cook around. Survivors include her three children, LuAnn Achterburg, Ringle; Sharon (Jim) Wright, Darboy; and Susan (Cy) Reinert, Appleton; her five grandchildren, Jody, Brian Craig, Stacey and Brenda; her five great grandchildren, James, Jennifer, Elizabeth, Jade and Sydney; and her sisters-in-law, Dolores Yingling, Appleton, and Dolores Meinert, Kaukauna. She was preceded in death by her sister, Jean (Harold) Frederick; and her brothers, Arthur Meinert and Glen (Arlette) Meinert. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH, 912 N. Oneida Street, Appleton, with Rev. Kurt Kovanen officiating. Friends may call directly at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. ntombment will be at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. A memorial has been established in her name to benefit Zion Lutheran Church. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staffs at the Garden of Fountain Way and the Intensive Care unit at AMC for their loving care.
