Gertrude Mae Jones

June 2, 1920 — August 22, 2013

Our Mother, Gertrude Mae Jones was born on June 2, 1920 in Wausau, Wisconsin. Her father Adolph Thompson was born in Norway and her mother, Sadie Allen Ward was born in New Hampshire. She was number eight in birth order of a total of nine siblings who have preceded her and gone home to be with the Lord.
She is survived by her daughter: Judy Wilson, San Antonio, Texas; sons: Bobby Jones, Savannah, Georgia and Scott Jones of Appleton. She has four grandchildren, Kirsten Lynn Wilson, Seattle Washington; Kory Wilson, San Antonio, Texas; Steven Jones, Appleton, and Deidre Jones, Sacramento, California; along with five great grandchildren.
She married Robert W. Jones in 1942 and shortly moved to Pine Bluff, Arkansas where Dad was stationed in the Air Force. They moved back to Wausau, where mom worked in sales at Winklemans Department Store. In 1960, the family moved to Appleton where mom worked for 20 plus years at Bee Franks (an upscale woman's fashion boutique).
Our Mother above all was a very loving and protective mother. She wanted the best life for us, to be happy, health, successful, and above all Godly. She read the bible daily and confessed God's word over all of us.
Our Mother had some very special talents. She was an interior decorator with her ability to decorate her home, a landscaper who could plant anything, and even build cement walls. For her it was both a challenge and fun. Even though as kids being asked to carry rocks, and sand, and dig up trees did not seem like fun to us. She would make these amazing bows that would cover a half of a box at Christmas. I would cherish and save them to reuse for several years.
Mom also loved cards such as Bridge and Poker. And she was very good at it and did not like losing. She always came home with a prize and usually first prize. She definitely had a competitive spirit and everything she created had to be perfect. She loved the fashion industry, and was Bee Franks top sales executive. She loved meeting new people and she was their expert on fashion advice.
Their summer home on Legend Lake brought both family and friends together for boating, swimming, volleyball and roasting marshmallows over campfires, as well as swatting giant Wisconsin horseflies. Mom instilled in us a strong work ethic. Coming out of the depression era where resources were scarce, we learned from her that if you work and study hard, you will be successful.
Mom wanted to live but Jesus called her and now she has ETERNAL LIFE WITH JESUS. Her earthly body is imperfect but now she has a perfect heavenly body. Her eyes see Jesus and all the angels and saints, her ears hear the angels voices and praises and songs. So now there is another angel in heaven joining in the heavenly choir. Moms work on earth was done, and we will see her again in Heaven.
