Germaine L. Bravick

Germaine (Jerry) Bravick, age 81, passed away peacefully at Hospice of Cherry Meadows, Appleton, on Saturday morning, April 14, 2012. Germaine was born in Chicago on February 27, 1931, daughter of the late George and Josephine (Wyack) Lacher. She attended South Shore High School, studied art at the Chicago Institute of Art and then went on to receive training at the South Chicago Community Hospital nursing program. On January 1, 1953, she married Donald Bravick in Chicago. Survivors include her husband Donald and six daughters: Georgianne Bravick of Appleton; Paula Denholm of Appleton; Margaret (Greta) Bravick of Atlanta; Ruth Graveline (Dave Ball) of Atlanta; Amy Bravick (Tom Lehman) of Appleton; and Donica (DJ) Davis (Alan) of Howard. There are also nine grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Germaine will also be missed by her loyal and loving companion lab, Sadie. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister: Shirley O'Loughlin.

In addition to her art study in Chicago, Germaine earned her Fine Arts degree in Art Education from the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay. Her watercolors, oils and sculptures are displayed in various locations in Appleton. She was an accomplished and driven genealogist who traveled to research her ancestry and also volunteered for several years at the Family History Center at the Appleton LDS Church.

Germaine gave much of her time and talent to many service organizations, including the Appleton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Salvation Army. She also taught in the capacity of guest teacher in the Appleton public and private schools.

Above all, Germaine valued her family and friends, and they were always her daily priority. Her life revolved around visiting with them. She was a kind and generous woman, who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

A memorial service for Germaine will be held at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at the funeral home chapel. Friends may call directly at the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon from 4:00 PM until the time of the service. Online condolences may be expressed at www.wichmannfargo.com.
