Age 91, passed away on Monday, September 11, 2006 at Fox River Assisted Living Center in Grand Chute. He was born on September 3, 1915 in Bear Creek to the late Charles and Caroline (Heinrich) Raisler. George served his country during WWII with the United States Army in the Pacific Theater from 1941 until 1945 and was awarded a Legion of Merit Medal for his service. On June 26, 1948 he was united in marriage to Marion Erickson, and they shared 58 wonderful years. He worked for 33 years with the Wisconsin Electric Power Company before retiring in 1980. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the Holiday Rambler Trailer Club for 35 years, a charter member of the Fox Valley Genealogy Club, and also a proud member of the American Legion Johnston-Blessman Post 38. George enjoyed traveling, wood carving, and genealogy research.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Marion; his son, John (Ann), Wauwatosa; grandchildren, Michael and Kelli Raisler; Sisters: Beatrice Knaack, Appleton, Janet Kellogg, Rancho Santa Fe, CA; sisters-in-law: Lorraine Raisler, Marion, Geraldine Raisler, Waupaca; as well as many nieces, nephews, good neighbors, and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Donald and Carlton, and an infant brother, John; an infant sister, Mildred; brothers-in-law: Norman Knaack, and Keith Kellogg III.

Funeral services for Mr. Raisler will be held on Friday, September 15, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church (912 N. Oneida Street) with the Reverend Larry Matthews officiating. Friends may call directly at the church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment and full military honors will be performed at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Research or a charity of your choice.

The family wishes to give a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Fox River Assisted Living for the loving care given to George and Marion, and also a special thank you to our neighbors and good friends on Walden Avenue.
