Genevieve T. Barbieur

Genevieve Barbieur, formerly of Kaukauna, passed away on October 27, 2007 at her home in Oregon. Gen was 93. She was born in Kaukauna on May 9, 1914, daughter of the late Peter and Amelia Wegand. On August 11, 1932, Genevieve married John Barbieur. After seventy-two years of marriage, he preceded her in death on May 21, 2005. Gen was a member of the Oregon Council for the Blind, NARFE, and was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Salem for nearly fifty years. She worked for many of those years in Salem school district cafeterias.

Genevieve is survived by a son: John Barbieur of Salem, Oregon; a daughter-in-law: Wanda Barbieur of Missoula, Montana; five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Robert J. Barbieur in 1985, and six brothers and sisters: Viola Niessing, Ethel Ruggles, Al Wegand, Helen Driessen, Robert Wegand, and James Wegand.

Services for Gen will be held at 7:00 PM on Monday, November 5, 2007 at the Fargo Funeral Home in Kaukauna with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 PM until the hour of the services.
