Age 89, died Saturday morning, December 13, 2003. She was born June 6, 1914, to the late Henry and Minnie (Welhouse) DeBruin, in Freedom and had been an area resident all of her life. Genevieve had been employed by St Elizabeth Hospital and Rose’s Rest Home as a nurse’s aid and by Kimberly Clark at the Lakeview Mill. Genevieve enjoyed raising and working with her racehorses. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Henry and Lynn Van Schyndel, Kaukauna; Richard and Marie Van Schyndel, Crivitz; a daughter, Betty Dorman, Kaukauna; a daughter-in-law, Donna (Ron) Koski, Fremont; 18 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; six brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Janice DeBruin, Kaukauna; Harold and Carolyn DeBruin, Pulcifer; Victor and Deb DeBruin, Freedom; Gordon DeBruin, Carter, OK; Lloyd DeBruin and fiancée, Janice Jansen, Little Chute; Victor DeBruin and fiancée, Jean Moser, Freedom; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Evelyn and Martin Van Schyndel, Kaukauna; Dorothy Hawley, Seymour; Elaine and Casey Van Cuyk, Combined Locks; Judy and Jim Menting, Little Chute; two sisters-in-law, Mary Ann DeBruin, Luxemburg; Virgie DeBruin, Appleton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Van Schyndel on June 16, 1985, her son, Robert, her son-in-law, Dick Dorman, a brother, Melvin DeBruin and a sister, Clara (Romy) Simons. The funeral liturgy for Genevieve will be held at 5:00 pm, Monday, December 15, 2003, at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street, with Father Jack Mullarkey officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 3:00 pm Monday until the time of the mass. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established.
