Gary P. Rickert

Gary Rickert, age 51, of Appleton, passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was born on November 29, 1961, in Green Bay, the son of the late Joseph and Edna (Green) Rickert. Gary attended New Hope Nursery School and graduated in 1989 from Robert Plamann School in Appleton. He worked at the Sheltered Workshop. Gary was involved in Special Olympics where he won a gold medal in bowling and basketball.

Gary is survived by his siblings: Marge (Ron) Springstroh, Appleton; Joan (Ron) Semrow, Freedom; Dave (Judy) Rickert, Freedom; Pat (Mary) Rickert, Freedom; Bill (Katie) Rickert, Appleton; Dan (Joy) Rickert, Virginia; Kathryn (Marvin) Schiedermayer, Hayward; Mike (Jill) Rickert, Freedom; and Cindy (Mike) Ballweg, Lodi; his godparents: Catherine and the late Ray Vosters. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The funeral liturgy for Gary will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 29, 2013 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom. Fr. Rick Basquinez will be officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 9:00AM until the time of service. Interment will take place in the parish cemetery. Online condolences can be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Nicholas Catholic Church or the Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin – Fox Cities are appreciated.
