Age 94, passed away at Appleton Medical Center on Wednesday, April 6, 2011. She was born in Seymour on January 21, 1917 the daughter of the late William and Minnie (Schroeder) Helms. On June 29, 1946 she married Aloysius Benzschawel at Zion Lutheran Church. He preceded Frieda in death in 1984. Frieda graduated from Appleton High School in 1936 and worked for Zwicker Knitting Mill for over 34 years, retiring in 1974. Frieda will be remembered for her positive attitude and enjoyment for the little things in life.

Frieda is survived by a sister-in-law, Margaret Helms of Appleton; and niece and nephews: Nancy Rehbein of Lakewood, Ronald (Eileen) Helms of Birmingham, AL, and Richard Helms of Kaukauna. She was preceded in death by her husband, Al; sister, Elda (Raymond) Tock; brothers: Walter Helms and Raymond (Lila) Helms; and George Rehbein.

The funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH, 912 N. Oneida St., Appleton, with Rev. Kurt Kovanen officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

The family extends a special thank you to Vivian Schutte and Frieda's caring neighbors for their ongoing support. We also thank the doctors and nurses at Appleton Medical Center for their compassionate care.
