Binder, Frank X.
Kaukauna

Frank entered eternal life on September 1, 2003 at his home. He was born December 18, 1919 in Herzogreut, Germany, son of the late Frank and Caroline (Vogl) Binder. His family emigrated to the United States in 1923 and settled in Chicago. Frank attended St. Michael grammar school and St. Michael High School, until the depression forced him to quit work and help support the family. Always a lover of baseball, his dream was to play catcher in the major league some day. He did play minor league baseball in such places as Manhattan, KS, Meridian, MS, and Lake Charles, LA. At the beginning of World War II, he was drafted into the United States Army and served in the Pacific Theatre until October of 1945. Frank married Lillian Meisl in Chicago on November 24, 1945; she preceded him in death in October of 1991. He continued to live and work in Chicago until he moved to Kaukauna in September of 2000.

Frank never lost his love for baseball, especially the Chicago Cubs, of whom he constantly complained. Although, he never missed a game on television. He also enjoyed woodworking and crossword puzzles, and playing with the family dog, Lucky. In his younger days, he loved to dance.

Frank is survived by two daughters: Carol (Robert) Mikrut of Kaukauna and Anne (Terry) Cymerman of River Grove, Illinois; five grandchildren: Keith Sengenberger of Appleton; Bill Mikrut of Palatine, Illinois; Mark Sengenberger of Appleton; Erica Cymerman of River Grove, Illinois and her fiancé Mike Larson; Frank Cymerman of Normal, Illinois; two great-grandchildren: Taylir Martin and Noah Sengenberger; a sister-in-law: Elsie Meisl of Rolling Meadows, Illinois. Frank is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his wife and parents, Frank was preceded in death by a sister Theresa (the late Paul) Cassata; brothers-in-law Henry (the late Mildred) Meisl and Joseph Meisl; sisters-in-law Ann (the late Edward) Mai and Ernestine (the late Carl) Kandlbinder; his mother and father-in-law: Henry and Anna Meisl; a son-in-law Edward Sengenberger; and a nephew Frank Cassata.

Private family services will be held on Friday, September 5, 2003 at Maryhill Cemetery in Niles, Illinois. In accordance with Frank’s wishes, there will be no visitation.
