Frank C. Madill

Frank C. Madill, age 94, of Kimberly, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2018. Frank was born in Bay City, Michigan the son of the late Charlie J. and Abbie (Moriarity) Madill. He grew up in Ferndale, Michigan where he graduated from the Lincoln High School of Ferndale. He went on to earn a B.S. degree from Central Michigan and an M.A. from Michigan State College.

During World War II, Frank served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He earned his Navigator’s Wings and was commissioned a 2nd Lt at San Marcos, Texas. He flew as the navigator of a B 17 Bomber in the 20th Bomb Squad of the 2nd Bomb Group in the 15th Air Force in Italy. During a night mission in December of 1944, the aircraft was shot down by German anti-aircraft. Frank parachuted into northern Croatia, was captured and spent six months as a Prisoner of War, he returned home and finished his college education.

On August 13, 1949, he married Caroline J. Post of Frederic, Michigan. After fifty-two years of marriage, Caroline passed in 2001 in Kimberly, Wisconsin. She is buried at the Arlington National Cemetery where Frank’s urn will also be buried. Frank and his family had lived in Eaton Rapids, Michigan where he taught school and coached high school sports; and in Moultrie, Georgia where he was the Assistant Director of Academic Training before settling in the Fox Valley. He worked for Kimberly Clark at four different locations. He retired in 1983 as the Mill Planner at the Neenah Paper Mill. The Madill family traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and Canada. Frank was a member of the Kimberly American Legion Post 60, the Heart of the Valley VFW Post 10544, the National Organization of the American Ex. Prisoners of War and the Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include his three children, Nelda (John) Hargo of Kimberly, Michael (Barbara Bezzi) Madill of Appleton and Nadine (Hank) De Wild of Kimberly; his four grandchildren, Carrie (special friend Jon Janness) Keenan, Monica (Aaron) Schultz, Meggie (Dan) Maisonneuve and Hank De Wild; great-grandchildren, Mariah Schultz, Marcus Schultz and Cole Maisonneuve. He is further survived by his brother-in-law, Bill (Nancy) Post.

In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his brother, John (Barbara) Madill; his two sisters, Mary Ellen (Orville) Hillaker and Eileen (Victor) Parsons and his brothers-in-law; Leo (Helma) Post, Jack (Marilyn) Post, George (Irene) Post, Milford (Betty) Post and Morden (Gloria) Post.

Family and friends will gather on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at JANSEN FARGO FUNERAL HOME, 204 E. Kimberly Avenue in Kimberly for Military Honors. Visitation will be held that same day at the funeral home starting at Noon. Online condolences can be shared at www.wichmannfargo.com.
