DREGER, FLOYD J. “BUCKO”

Floyd Dreger, age 97, of Kaukauna, passed away on Sunday morning, January 29, 2012, at St. Paul Home with his family at his side. He was born on September 4, 1914 in Kaukauna, the son of the late William and Josephine (Kaphar) Dreger. On July 3, 1944, Floyd was united in marriage to Ethel Rademacher, “the love of his life”, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kaukauna.

Floyd was employed for over 35 years as the outside crane operator at Giddings & Lewis. His expertise in small engines was utilized when opening the repair shop at Carstens Elevator. He was Mr. Handy, and always willing to give a helping hand to others. Floyd was a member of the Moose Lodge in Kaukauna, 50 year member of the Knights of Columbus and faithful member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. He was an avid card player; enjoyed bowling, fishing and water skiing and had a love for hunting and travel in his younger years.

Floyd enjoyed watching the Brewers and Packers, and he was a season ticket holder and each grandchild had the privilege of attending their first Packer game with grandpa. Family was very important to Floyd, he always looked forward to his grandchildren's extracurricular activities and the family vacation to Pelican Lake.

He is survived by his daughters: Sharon (Larry) Woldt and Pam (Jeff) Kelly, both of Kaukauna; five grandchildren: Lisa Stevens, Appleton; Stacey Woldt, Roselle, Illinois and Aaron (Tammy) Woldt, Farmington, Minnesota; Sean (Angie) Kelly, De Pere and Brian (Katy) Kelly, Oak Creek; four great-grandchildren: Spencer Stevens, Noah and Morgan Woldt and Landen Kelly. Floyd is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ethel Dreger; three brothers: Vincent Dreger, Jerome (Mildred) Dreger and Myron (Mary Ann) Dreger; two sisters: Joan (George) Buckarma and Lorraine (Norb) Stammer.

The funeral liturgy for Floyd will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 3, 2012 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street, Kaukauna. Fr. Tom Pomeroy will be officiating. A time of visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:00 am until the time of mass. Floyd will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in his name.

Floyd's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff and caregivers at St. Paul Elder Service and Dr. Michael Werner and the Kaukauna Clinic, for their wonderful care and compassion.
