Florian M. Schendel, Kaukauna, 84, died Saturday morning, June 19, 2004. She was born May 10, 1920, to the late Peter and Harriet (Van Vreede) Berken, in Wrightstown. Florian married Edward Schendel in 1939 and they farmed in Greenleaf until his death in 1982. She had been a Kaukauna resident for the past 20 years. Florian was a volunteer with the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry and was an avid reader and she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters. Survivors include three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Lyola and Clyde Smith, Appleton; Monnie and Richard Verhagen, Kaukauna; Greta Green, Seymour; 21 nieces and nephews; many great and great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1982, her parents and a brother-in-law, Bud Green. The funeral liturgy for Florian will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, June 22, 2004, at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street, with Father Jack Mullarkey officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 11:00 am Tuesday, until the time of the mass. A memorial fund is being established.
