Age 90, passed away on Thursday afternoon, April 28, 2006 at Manor Care. She was born on September 12, 1915 in Brillion to the late Otto and Clara Bubolz. On September 21, 1940 she married Leonard Tackmier and they shared 38 wonderful years until he preceded her in death in 1978. Fern worked for Banta from 1956 to 1977. She was a member and a greeter at Trinity Lutheran Church in Menasha. Playing the organ was her favorite pastime. She also enjoyed fishing with Leonard, traveling, bus trips to casinos and theaters, cruises, and was a member of the ladies bowling club.

She will be sadly missed by her sister: Flora Schmidt, Appleton; nieces and nephews: Judy (Doug) Burhans, Appleton; Chuck (Cheryl) Dorn, Appleton; Gene (Beverly) Sonnabennd, Brillion, Audrey (Keith) Lippert, Valders, Dick (Donna) Linskens, Little Chute, David (Suzie) Linskens, Green Bay, Liz (Mickey) Brunnette, Kaukauna; great niece and nephew: Jenny and David Burhans, Appleton. In addition to her parents and her husband, Leonard, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Alice Sonnabennd and Lillian Linskens.

Funeral services for Mrs. Tackmier will be held on Monday, May 1, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at the Star of Hope Chapel inside the Mausoleum at Highland Memorial Park with the Reverend Harley Kopitske officiating. Friends may call at the Star of Hope Chapel from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park.
