Exilda C. Valentine

Exilda C. Valentine, age 89, of Freedom, passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Brewster Village in Appleton. She was born on November 30, 1922, in Freedom, the daughter of the late Edward and Anna (Romsom) Geenen. On October 23, 1945, Exilda married Lee Valentine at St. Nicholas Catholic Church. She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom, VFW Post 7692 Auxillary of Freedom, and the Secular Franciscan Order. Exilda loved cooking and baking, and her greatest joy was being with family and friends.

She is survived by her children: Katherine Feistel, Appleton; Helen (Ken) Van Rooy, Freedom; Robert (Debra) Valentine, Freedom; and James (Bebe) Valentine, Hilbert; thirteen grandchildren: Greg (Kristina Gurich) Feistel and Stacy (Joe) Gonnering; Gwen (Madan) Kandula, Joseph (Tara) Van Rooy, and John (Erin) Van Rooy; Brad (Maren) Valentine, Valerie (Sean) Valentine-Behling, Brett (Maggie) Valentine, and Curtis (Alisha) Valentine; Billie Jo, Danielle, Leah, and Amanda Valentine; and fifteen great grandchildren. Exilda is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Valentine; son-in-law, Dennis Feistel; brothers and sisters: Henry Geenen, Marion (Ray) Murphy, Joseph (Clara) Geenen, Alma (Frank) Buettner, Agnes (Frank) Peters, Raymond (Lucina) Geenen, and Gerald (Sis) Geenen; father and mother-in-law: Eli and Helen Valentine; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law: Luella (Ted) Nickodem, Florence (Bill) Mill, Delores (John) Kneisler, Emmett Valentine, and Bernetta Valentine.

The funeral liturgy for Exilda will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, October 15, 2012 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom. Fr. Dan Felton will be officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. A time of visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 am until 11:45 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Nicholas Catholic Church or the Freedom Food Pantry are appreciated. Online condolences can be expressed at www.wichmannfargo.com.
