MEITNER, EVELYN S.

Evelyn S. Meitner, 84, of Appleton, died on January 9, 2005, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Evelyn was born on October 23, 1920, in Appleton, to the late Herbert and Natalie (Hersekorn) Schabow. She married Carl C. Meitner on February 3, 1942, on Staten Island, New York; he preceded her in death on February 10, 1999. Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was member of the VFW Harvey Pierre Post #2778 Women’s Auxiliary, enjoyed crossword and Word Search puzzles, and the time spent with family and friends. Survivors include her two sons, Stephan (Donna) Meitner, Appleton and Merlin (Cinda) Meitner, Maple Grove, Minnesota; her grandchildren, Shannon, Stephanie, Shane (Jessica), Mandy, Nathan, Matthew (Kristy), Serena, Paul (Michelle) and Phillip. She is further survived by her great grandchildren, Keenan and Mackenzie; and her sisters, Helen (Gene) Brahm, Jean (Orlo) Sasman, Marion Merkl, Enid Schabow, Mary Jean Schabow, Jean Karweick and Ila Mae Schabow; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister JoAnn Franzke and her brothers, Alvin, Gordon, Norman, Armin, and Edwin. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 12, 2005, at BETHANY EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 530 West Parkway Blvd, Appleton, with Rev. Mark Henke officiating. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again directly at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. A memorial has been established in her name to benefit Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church and Fox Valley Lutheran High School.
