Evelyn E. Beirnard

January 30, 1908 — June 14, 2005

Age 97, died Tuesday, June 14, 2005, after a final struggle with cancer. Evelyn was born in Waupaca County on January 30, 1908, daughter of the late Chris and Emma (Schultz) Wilde. A graduate of Lawrence University with a major in Public School Music and Sociology, she did graduate work at the University of Wisconsin – Madison in the School of Social Work. She was a social worker for twenty years and also taught in the Appleton Public Schools for five years. A longtime member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, she served on many of the various church commissions and as president of the Women’s Fellowship, and was a Circle Leader for fourteen years. She was a longtime member of the Outagamie County Church Women United, having served as president and on the state Board of Directors of CWU of Wisconsin. Evelyn was also a member of the Monday Book Club and the American Association of University Women, having served in various offices in both organizations.

Survivors include her son: Dr. Charles A. (Antonia) Beirnard of Anchorage, Alaska; her grandson: Michael Beirnard of Boston College, Boston; her granddaughter: Erin Beirnard of New York City; a niece: Marianne (Dale) Campbell of Peoria, Illinois; and a nephew: Gary (Gloria) Wilde of Crivitz. She was preceded in death by her husband Cesar A. Beirnard in 1966, as well as by a brother and sister.

A memorial service for Evelyn will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2005 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of FIRST CONGREGATIONAL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, 724 East South River Street in Appleton with Rev. Jane Anderson officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery.
