Eugene T. Sage

August 22, 1926 — October 26, 2013

Gene Sage, age 87, passed away early Saturday morning, October 26, 2013 at Bridgewood Nursing and Rehab in Neenah. Gene was born in Illinois on August 22, 1926, son of the late William and Rose (Schreck) Sage. As a young man, he was employed by Western Condensing in Appleton and later worked for Hardy Salt Company, which later became Diamond Crystal and Akzo Nobel. He retired in the mid 1980's. On June 4, 1987, he married the former Dorothy Yingling Kennedy in Winneconne, and the couple was blessed with twenty-five years together. Everyone will remember Gene for his love of golf. He was a member of Ridgeway Country Club, and upon retiring to Bella Vista, Arkansas, Gene literally thought he had gone to heaven! Seven courses to choose from every morning! He was a proud member of two golf groups, the Purple Sages and the Snowbirds. Failing health prompted he and Dorothy to relocate to the Valley in 2011.

He is survived by his wife: Dorothy Sage of Menasha; three children: Jeffrey Sage of Summit Lake, Wisconsin; Rebecca Peters of Mesa, Arizona; and Wendy (Gary) Groves of Hortonville; a step-son: Richard (Kathy) Kennedy of Appleton; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, three, brothers, two sisters, and his first wife Lois.

At Gene's request, no services will be held at this time.

The family would like to offer their sincere thanks to the staff at Bridgewood Nursing and Rehab for the loving care given to Gene during his stay. He could have been in no better hands, and we will never forget your kindness.
