Eugene J. Schmeisser

Gene Schmeisser died Thursday, August 1, 2006 at the Cherry Meadows Hospice in Appleton surrounded by his family and friends. Gene was 80. He was born in Antigo on November 14, 1925, son of the late Alvin and Frances (Luniak) Schmeisser. On July 8, 1950, he married the former Jean Kuhr in Antigo; she survives.

For over thirty years, Gene was employed at Thilmany Pulp and Paper in Kaukauna, and was also an avid bowler, and golfer who enjoyed many good times with his friends and family.

Gene is survived by his wife of fifty-six years: Jean Schmeisser of Kaukauna; a daughter: Colleen “Connie” (Jim Arlt) Klister of Kaukauna and a son: Jack (Kathy) Schmeisser of Collins; three grandchildren: Scott Klister, Heather Schmeisser, and Katie Schmeisser.

Services will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, August 4, 2006 at IMMANUEL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, 510 Sullivan Avenue in Kaukauna with Rev. Melinda Feller officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Friday afternoon from 2:00 PM until the hour of the services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund for the Community Hospice Foundation is being established.

The family would like to thank Dr. John Swanson and the entire staff at ThedaCare and Cherry Meadows for all of their kindness and care.
