Age 73, passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital on Thursday, December 8, 2011. He was born in Appleton on November 5, 1938 the son of Victor and Mabel (Graf) Krueger. Gene was proud to serve in the U.S. Navy where he met his bride, Marcella Ernestina Marez, and wed in 1959. He was a long time resident of Appleton where he served on the Appleton Fire Department for many years. Gene owned and raced a stock car (#97) at KK Speedway(W.I.R.), Outagamie, and Oshkosh with his brother, Cliff. In 1968 the family moved to California. Gene retired from the City of Modesto in 1995 and returned home to Appleton where he enjoyed his hobbies of bass fishing in many area lakes, and played in a golf league with his son Alan for many years.

Gene is survived by his four children: Linda Krueger of Appleton, Alan Krueger of Appleton, Cindy (Richard) Sadler of Yuma, AZ, and Robert Krueger of South Lake Tahoe, CA. He is further survived by 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two brothers: Clifford (Ruth) Krueger of Dale and Dennis (Susan) Krueger of Shiocton; and loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella Krueger; his parents: Victor and Mabel Krueger; and his niece, Sara Ruth Krueger.

The memorial service will be at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 14, 2011at the Wichmann Funeral Home, with Rev. Jeffrey Suhr officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 15, in Appleton Highland Memorial Park .

The family extends a special thank you to the staff at the I.C.U. at St. Elizabeth Hospital for their outstanding care.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Gene's name is being established.
