Ethel Kruse, age 94, was called to the waiting arms of her Lord on Tuesday morning, January 10, 2012. Ethel was born in Woodville on the family farm on March 13, 1917, daughter of the late George and Olive (Klassen) Mader. She married Oliver Kruse on May 13, 1940 in Sherwood; he preceded her in death in May of 1990. Ethel was a longtime and faithful member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church and their ladies aid. She was a quiet, gentle woman, who enjoyed caring for her family and watching her grandchildren grow.
Survivors include three children: Oliver (Joyce) Kruse, Mel (Marilyn) Kruse, and Ruth (Bill) Pfund; twelve grandchildren: Betsy (Steve) McCrary, Tim (Roz) Kruse, James (Bonnie) Kruse, Rachel (Kurt) Becker, Jon (Maureen) Kruse, Jen (Matt) Zuhlke, Jeff (Danielle) Kruse, Jess (Paul) Schroeder, Chris (Jill) Pfund, Ryan (Sandy) Pfund, Rob (Julie) Pfund, and Aprille (Dan) Wagner; there are also twenty-three great-grandchildren: two sisters: Noretta (Ron) Bastian and Deanna (Max) Wolf; a brother: George (Ellie) Mader; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1990, and six siblings: Marian Beach, Jerry Mader, Adrian Mader, Jeanne Schmidt, Lori Schmidt, and Bob Mader.
The Christian Funeral for Ethel will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at ST. JOHN EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, N9125 Military Road, Kaukauna, with Rev. Paul Fanning officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. Memorial funds have been established at both St. John Ev. Lutheran Church and Heartland Hospice.
