Ethel F. Rottier, 91, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Oakridge Gardens Nursing Center. She was born on February 27, 1919 in Thorp, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Sauer) Sokolowski. Ethel married Robert H. Rottier, a railroad depot agent, in 1951 in Wakefield, MI, but spent most of her life raising her family with Robert in Phillips, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death in 1981. Ethel has spent the last ten years residing in Appleton. She enjoyed spending time gardening, bird watching and with the company of her children, grandchildren and great granddaughter.

Ethel is survived by her children: Gene (Sally) Rottier, Phoenix, AZ and Peter (Diane) Rottier, Menasha; grandchildren: Shane, Erik (fiancée Jennifer), Rob and Holly Rottier; her special great granddaughter: Gabriella Rottier. She is further survived by her siblings: Lillian Willey, Milwaukee; Fritz (Ceil) Sokolowski, Milwaukee and Stanley Sokolowski, Thorp, along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ethel is preceded in death by a son, Dale Rottier; her siblings, Bertilla Czech, Beatrice Kuehnast, Irene Didrickson and Beau Sokolowski.

A funeral service is not being planned at this time.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Oakridge Gardens for taking such excellent care of Ethel for the past few years and making her stay there as comfortable as home.
