Ethel E. Beyer

July 23, 1926 — November 27, 2012

Ethel E. Beyer, age 86, of Greenville, entered her Heavenly Home in the arms of her loving husband with her daughters at her side on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, following a brief illness. Ethel was born July 23, 1926, in the Town of Dale, to the late Carl and Emma (Wiegelt) Ulman. After graduating from Appleton West High School in 1943, she continued her education at Outagamie Normal in Kaukauna. Upon completing the program, she taught at Center Valley School. It was at the beginning of her career and after dances at the Cinderella Ballroom that she met and married her loving husband Harvey on February 15, 1947, at Mount Olive Lutheran Church. Ethel spent the next 8 years raising a family and then resumed her teaching career at other one room schools in the Greenville area. She spent the next several years teaching in Hortonville and Neenah district schools. Ethel was a very dedicated teacher and instrumental in originating teaching programs (CESA) to meet the individual needs of her students. She retired from teaching in 1990. Always a teacher and concerned community member, Ethel stayed active in the Mt. Olive Ladies Aide, Greenville Homemakers, Wisconsin Retired Teachers Association, and was dedicated to the Center Valley Grade School. She recently conducted tours at the school for many area schoolchildren and enjoyed meeting with her Appleton HS classmates. Her hobbies included her vegetable garden, flowers, raspberries, and an occasional stray cat that appeared at her doorstep with its kittens. She loved being with her children and grandchildren, helping them to learn and grow in their lives.

Ethel is survived by her loving husband, Harvey and five daughters, Barbara Rohloff, Appleton, Bonnie Frost, Newport Beach, CA, Brenda (Dan) Madden, New London, Beverly (Wayne) Eichhorn, Muskego, and Becky (Chuck) Otis, New London. She is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Rayleen Beyer, Ukiah, CA. She was a loving grandmother to 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers-in-law, Leonard (Bernice) Beyer, Roy Conant, sisters-in-law, Patricia Beyer, Virginia Ulman. Ethel was preceded in death by her son Bruce, brother Ervin Ulman, sisters Esther (Henry) Groeschel and Ella (Henning) Conant, infant brother Earl, and great-grandson Tyler Otis.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2012, at MOUNT OLIVE EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 930 E. Florida Avenue, Appleton, with Rev. Robert Raasch officiating. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Appleton, on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and again directly at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at AMC ICU and Oncology departments, and ThedaCare Home Hospice.

You were the most loving, caring, and generous wife and mother. You will be in our hearts forever. All our love, Harvey & The Girls
