Elsie M. White-Medek

WHITE-MEDEK, ELSIE M.

Elsie White-Medek, 85, of Appleton, passed away in Appleton, Wisconsin on December 22, 2009. She was born on January 10, 1924 to the late Oscar and Elizabeth (Saari) Haukkala. Elsie grew up in Maple, Wisconsin and prior to moving to Appleton, she resided in Chetek and Rice Lake where she was employed in the printing business. She was talented in numerous crafts, especially quilting, weaving, and gardening.

Elsie is survived by her sons: Michael (Cindy Wald) White, Appleton and Dennis (Judy) White, Maple; grandsons: Jordan and Zachary White; her brother: Alvin (Mary) Haukkala, Brule; sister: Carol (Jack) Gartner, Superior; sister-in-law: Doris Haukkala and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, James White and Reinie Medek; two brothers: Marvin and Harold Haukkala and her foster sister: Carol Schindler.

As per Elsie's request, there will be a gathering of family and friends at a later date.
