Elroy Chester Nickerson was born on July 21, 1920, and was received into eternal life on January 1, 2003 at the age of 82 years.

Born in Sibley, Iowa, Roy was the only child of Elroy B. and Helen (Reintsma) Nickerson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and trusted in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. A 1939 graduate of Manville High School, Manville, WY, Roy then served his country in the United States Coast Guard from 1941-1946. Upon completion of his military duty, Roy returned to school, becoming a master electrician.

On July 21, 1950, Roy married Amy Lucille (Sannes) Nickerson. He was a member of the Disabled Veterans, the IBEW, and worked as an electrician until his retirement in 1985. Roy faithfully cared for his wife during her many years of combating Alzheimer’s Disease. He became certified as a nursing assistant to better care for her as well as many others. His hobbies included exercise and fitness, gardening, dancing, and family activities.

He is survived by his daughter, Susan (Nickerson) Bondow and son-in-law, Dr. Steven E. Bondow of Appleton; three grandchildren, Stacy, Daniel and Benjamin Bondow of Appleton; other relatives and many friends.

The family would like to thank the AMC physicians and 4 southwest staff for their kind, compassionate care.

A Worship Service to celebrate Roy’s life will be 11:00 AM Saturday, January 4, 2003 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, (N2749 French Road) Appleton, with Rev. Ronald Ash officiating. Visitation will be at CHURCH on Saturday on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.

Roy placed all his hope of life hereafter in Jesus Christ, the son of God, and was secure in God’s love for him and trusted in the salvation purchased for him through Christ’s suffering and death. He commends his loved ones to the protecting arms of God, and encourages them to place their faith and trust in Him alone for their salvation.
