Winarski, Elizabeth L.
“Betty”

Betty Winarski, age 83, passed away Saturday, September 25, 2010 at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna after a long struggle with dementia. Betty was born in Neenah on June 11, 1927, daughter of the late Adolph and Elenora (Sturn) Berndt. Betty graduated from Menasha High School and after graduation worked at Kimberly Clark's Lakeview Plant. On May 1, 1948, Betty married Donald Winarski at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Menasha. Betty will be fondly remembered by many as the friendly face at Zimmer's Gift Haus in Menasha where she was employed for over twenty years. Betty enjoyed many things- movies, music, dancing, her pets, conversations and laughter with her children. And her true passion was collecting collectibles. She was a former volunteer for the American Red Cross, was a devout Catholic and was a longtime member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Menasha. Those who knew her well know of her love for yellow roses.

Betty is survived by her husband, Donald Winarski of Menasha; her six loving and devoted children: Donna Thiel of Neenah, Victoria (Timothy) Bolz of Appleton, Terence Winarski of Menasha, Scott (Mary) Winarski of Menasha, Paula (Kirk Arps) Winarski of Kaukauna, Lisa Winnett of Menasha; grandchildren: Tekla Winarski of Madison and Kajja (Josh) Wagner of West Bend; great-grandson, Mason Terence Wagner; nieces: Ruth Sires, Virginia (Roger) Hildebrandt, Mary (Ben) Southwick, Kathy (Karl) Kobal, Nancy (Bill) Toeppler, some very special and much loved great nieces and great nephews, cousin, James (Beverly) Lehrer, brother-in-law, Robert (Marge) Winarski; sister-in-law, Jacqueline Winarski and many other relatives. Betty is preceded in death by her sisters: Frances Sires and Dorothy Davis.

A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 324 Nicolet Boulevard, Menasha, with Fr. Paul Radetski officiating. Friends will be received for a visitation on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Tri-County Chapel, and again on Tuesday at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.

In memory of Betty, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

The family of Betty would like to sincerely thank Sister Dorothy, the nurses and aides of Poppy Path and the St. Paul Hospice Care for their support and compassionate care given to our mother. You have been Betty's angels on earth!
