Elizabeth I. Guttenberg

June 25, 1986 — March 11, 2005

Elizabeth “Liz” Irene Guttenberg, 18, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2005, the result of an automobile accident. Liz was a freshman a UW-Fox Valley and was enjoying all the things that come with active campus life. She was a member of the drama club and the fencing club, as well as being a member of the cast for the upcoming production of “Equus”. She and her friends enjoyed going to the Crystal Ballroom on Friday night trips for ballroom dancing. Liz’s other passion in life was art. God had blessed her with a unique talent and she was planning on majoring in art with an emphasis in animation and special effects.

Liz was born June 25, 1986 in Euless, TX. She moved with her family in 1987 to Appleton WI as a baby. In June 2004, Liz graduated from Appleton North High School. While in High School she loved being a member of the Appleton North Band program, where she performed in the marching bands, the pep band and was a member of the pit orchestra for the “Wizard of Oz” production. She was also a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church, where for 4 years she played in the hand bell choir.

Liz was a happy, loving child. Her free spirit allowed her to open to heart to many different people and personalities. She cared deeply about her friends and was often concerned for them when there were difficulties or sad times in their lives. Her bubbly personality made others around her smile with her infectious joy for life.

Her maternal grandmother, Juanita Porter, preceded Liz in death. She is survived by her parents, Kerry and Emily Guttenberg; her brother, Tom Guttenberg; her paternal grandparents, Harold and Evelyn Guttenberg; and her maternal grandfather, Louie Porter. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins: Peggy (Dave) Wardecke, Sarah & Laura; Randy (Amy) Guttenberg, Mya, Paige & Megan; Tom (Susan) Porter; Beth (Billy) Mitchell, Sam, Will, Matt & Emma Grace; Ellen (Nathan) Koerner, Brandon & Grayson. She is also survived by special family friends Jan Van Heinengen, Ruth Sisson and Carol Harrison.

Funeral services for Elizabeth will be at 4:30 P.M. Thursday, March 17, 2005, at MEMORIAL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 803 East College Avenue, Appleton, with Revs. Charles Valenti-Hein and Steven R. Blackstock officiating. Entombment will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park Star of Hope Chapel Mausoleum. Friends may call from 2:30 P.M. Thursday until the time of services directly at the church. A memorial fund in Elizabeth’s name is being established.

Liz’s family wishes to thank the outpouring of support and caring from our friends and church family, as well as for the support and sensitivity of Bonnie and Sandy with the Victim Crisis Response Team from the Appleton Police Department.
