Eleanor Ann Sturms

Eleanor Sturms, age 79 of Freedom, passed away peacefully at home on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 2017. Her family was at her side. Eleanor was born in Gillett, Wisconsin on March 23, 1938, daughter of the late Oscar and Lucille (Jeske) Buchholz.

Ellie worked in the pipe fabrication business for many years, and was employed by companies such as Azco, Team, Ahern, and PSI; Ellie was an icon in the pipe fabrication industry. She loved following the Packers and the Brewers, and also enjoyed polka music, dancing, playing her hum-strum, playing cards, following her daughter’s running events, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Though her family was the love of her life, everyone will always remember her extensive collection of chickens.

Survivors include three children: Matthew (Lisa) Foate of Hortonville, Kelly (Julie) Foate of Hortonville, and Sydney (Pete) Vander Loop of Freedom. There are also seven grandchildren: Bradley (fiancee Arianna) Foate, Ryan Foate, Mandee (Jake) Foate, Eric (fiancee Coley) Foate, Christopher (Mareah) Foate, Joshua Vander Loop, and Matthew Vander Loop; two step-grandchildren: Jeremy (Lynda) Johnson and Joshua Johnson; two-great-grandchildren: McKenna and Raelynn; a brother: Bill (Gloria) Buchholz of Gillett; and two sisters: Sally (Jerry) Jacobson of Green Bay and Susie (Sam) Schuettpelz of Gillett. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Jimmy Buchholz.

Funeral services for Eleanor will be held at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior Street in Appleton, with Rev. Brian Bankert officiating. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3:00 PM until the time of the service.
