Edward J. "Jack" Arft

ARFT, EDWARD J. “JACK”

Edward Arft, of Kimberly, age 79 years, beloved husband, father, and grandfather went to be with his Lord August 18, 2007 at Appleton Medical Center after a year long struggle with lung cancer. He was born June 30, 1928 in Neenah, the son of the late Edward H. and Clara (LaFave) Arft. Ed attended Neenah Schools and served in the U.S. Navy from January 3, 1946 to December 4, 1947 receiving the Victory medal. He then served in the U.S. Army January 1949 to September 1952 during the Korean Conflict with the Military Police. On December 4, 1951 he married Yvonne Yunk in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Jack joined the Appleton Police Department in March of 1953 until June1983 retiring after 30 years of service. He was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, Combined Locks, the William Verhagen Post 60 of the American Legion in Kimberly and the Appleton Police Benevolent Association.

Surviving are his wife of 56 years: Yvonne Arft, Kimberly; daughter: Jacqueline (Steven) Holland, Littleton, Colorado; sons: Randall (Donna) Arft, Unionville, Virginia; Bradley Arft, Darboy; Michael Arft, Warrenton, Virginia and Patrich (Rhonda) Arft, DePere; grandsons: RJ Arft, Warrenton, Virginia and Scott Arft, Warrenton, Virginia; great granddaughter: Abbie Arft, Warrenton, Virginia; brother: Robert Arft, Appleton; sisters: Patricia (Ben) Kosiorek and Elizabeth Arft both of Appleton; brother-in-law: Henry (Bev) Yunk, Appleton; sisters-in-law: Joan Arft, Neenah and Cheryl (Steve) Eggert, Appleton. Jack is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Donald Arft, sister Dorothy Court, baby brother Eddie, mother and father-in-law, Alice and Henry Yunk.

The funeral service for Jack will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME. Inurnment will take place at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. The visitation will be on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Martha Siekman Cancer Center are appreciated.
