Age 80, passed away at Appleton Medical Center on Thursday, December 29, 2011. She was born in Wabeno, WI on March 21, 1931, the daughter of the late Adam and Ethel (Wirtz) Lenz. On July 15, 1950 she married George Wetzel who preceded her in death in 1982. On April 15, 1983 she married Frank Cumber who preceded her in death in 2006. Edna worked in several factories and was a nursing assistant for 30 years at many nursing homes. She loved to sew and was know for her talented skills in quilting. Edna will be remembered for being compassionate, big hearted, loving, and nonjudgemental. She always opened her home and heart to everyone.

Edna is survived by her daughter, Donna (Ceddrick) Hunter; grandchildren: Danielle Hammersley, Elisha Grady, Jeremy Hunter, Amber Williams and Armanii Meek; five great-grandchildren: DanQwon Hammersley, Isaiah Stiger, Elianna Stiger, Nikai Grady and Ezekiel Grady; great-great-granddaughter, Khloe Hammersley; brother, Norman (Margaret) Lenz; brother-in-law; Melvin Kumber; sisters-in-law: Shirlee, Mary and Dorothy; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and very dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husbands, parents; grandchild, Todd Hammersley; sisters: Mary Tyler and Betty Tyler; brothers: Russell Olson, Henry Lenz and Andrew (Pat) Lenz; and nephew, Gary Lenz.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH, 912 N. Oneida St., Appleton, with Rev. Kurt Kovanen officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Entombment will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park.
