Age 86, died on Wednesday, March 14, 2001 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Edgar was born in Fond du Lac on August 16, 1914, son of the late William and Matilda (Brenner) Breitengross. He married Louise Niederehe on December 12, 1942 in Manchester, New Hampshire, and they have enjoyed more than 58 years of marriage. Edgar proudly served his country as a Captain in the Army Air Corps during World War II, earning a purple heart in the European Theater. He worked for Thresherman’s Mutual Insurance Company, before retiring as vice president at Integrity Mutual Insurance Company He was a member of the Appleton Noon Lions. Edgar enjoyed gardening, especially working with flowers. He loved sports, and was an avid Packer fan. Edgar will be greatly missed by his wife Louise; a daughter, Judy Breitengross, Maplewood, MN; two sons, Jim (Jewell) Breitengross, Onalaska, WI; Tom (Candi) Breitengross, Appleton; a granddaughter, Johnna Breitengross; and three grandsons, Zak, Scott-USN and Tim Breitengross. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Laura Schilleman and Edna Parri and two brothers, William and Arthur Breitengross. Edgar’s Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2001 at ST. THOMAS MORE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1810 North McDonald Street, with Father Gerald Falk officiating. Entombment will be at Highland Memorial Park. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m., and again at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A Prayer Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate funds to the Salvation Army, American Red Cross, or any charitable organization of their choice.
