Earl R. Boldt

Earl R. Boldt, age 89, passed away at his home on June 5, 2012. He was born on August 14, 1922 in Grand Chute, the son of Rudolph and Martha (Knorr) Boldt. Earl proudly served his country in the United States Army, in the 101st Airborne Division -Glider Infantry and was part of the June 6th Invasion of Normandy. Earl was wounded after six days of combat. He lay on the battlefield overnight among the dead comrades and was found the next morning. He spent 18 months in VA hospitals recovering from wounds. He earned a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart for his valor.
Earl was united in marriage on February 23, 1946 to Marilyn Kuehn. The marriage was blessed with four sons. He later retired from the IRS as an accountant. Earl was a member of American Legion and the VFW.

Earl is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marilyn, four sons: twins Robert of Schaumburg, IL and Richard (Janis) Boldt of Eau Claire, WI, Gerald (Carolyn) Boldt of Naples, FL and James Boldt of West Hollywood, CA; four grandchildren: Michael (Joanna) Boldt, Mark Boldt, Timothy (Karen) Boldt, and Christina (Lee) Rapson; step-granddaughter Tina Thompson; great- grandchildren: Abby, Jack, Anna, and Kaylee; Step-great-grandchildren Rosanna and Hunter Parillo; one sister-in-law Leola Dobbertin; and one nephew Leo (Karen) Volkman. Further survived by many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant brother Gilbert, one sister Alice (William) Volkman and nephew Lester Volkman.

Celebration of life will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Wichmann Funeral Homes, Tri-County Chapel 3212 S Oneida St; with Chaplain Jordan Kuczwara officiating. Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 3:00 PM until the time of service. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
