Age 79, passed away at home from a brief illness with cancer, Thursday, November 21, 2002. Sax was born August 20, 1923 in Aniwa, Wisconsin, the son of Lester and Mildred Sawyer. He moved to Clintonville as a young boy and became involved with his parents music business. He was well known in the area as a saxophone and clarinet player. He moved to Appleton and continued in the music business playing with many local bands. Sax was a WW II veteran serving in the Pacific. He will be sadly missed by many family and friends.

Survivors include one daughter, Susan (Dale) Wait, Hortonville; two sons, Tom Sawyer, Clintonville and Steve Sawyer, Washington; one step-daughter Jane (John) Sackmann, Appleton, a step-son, Wayne Eberhard, Colorodo; 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and special companion, Arlyce Velte, Appleton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Mildred and wife, Ginny.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2002 at 12:00 PM (Noon) with Reverend Diane Rew-Gottfried officiating at the funeral home. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Military Honors will follow the service outside the funeral home. Interment will take place at Roselawn Cemetery in Marion, WI. Memorials may be made out in his name.
