MILLER, DOUGLAS W. “DOC”

Douglas Miller, 99, of Appleton, died on Friday, December 3, 2010 at Villa St. Clare in Neenah. He was born July 18, 1911 in Elkhart Lake, the son of the late George and Florence (Douglas) Miller. On December 25, 1937 he married Helen Munson in Appleton. Doc served his country during WWII in the U.S. Marines. He was employed with Kimberly Clark for thirty years, retiring in 1974. Doc was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Waverly Masonic Lodge #51 of Appleton. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and most importantly, spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter: Susan (Mark) Reuss, Neenah; son: Richard ( Michelle) Miller, Ironwood, Michigan; grandchildren: Marnie Nelson, Neenah; Whitney Miller, Hunnington Beach, California and Max Miller, Grand Forks, North Dakota; great grandchildren: Brittany and Samantha Reuss; Angela and Jacob Nelson; great great granddaughter: Jaelynn Reuss and his brother-in-law: Gordon (Florence) Munson, Sheboygan. Doc was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers, a sister and a grandson, Mark Reuss, Jr.

The funeral service for Doc will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at HIGHLAND MEMORIAL PARK, STAR OF HOPE CHAPEL, 3131 N. Richmond Street, Appleton. Rev. Kurt Kovanen will be officiating. Entombment with full military honors will follow. The visitation will be held from 10:30 am until the time of service.
