Dorothy (Rice) Kemen

October 20, 1918 — October 14, 2015

Dorothy (Rice) Kemen, age 96, passed away at Cedar Creek Manor in Mosinee, on October 14, 2015. Dorothy was born on October 20, 1918, in the Town of Royalton, Waupaca County, the daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Rosenau) Rice. She graduated from Little Wolf High School in 1936 and from the Commercial Extension in 1937. Dorothy was employed by Scholts Investment Company and Household Finance in Milwaukee and Sheboygan before marrying Vincent Kemen on June 17, 1944. They lived in Appleton since 1945, where she was employed at City Hall and Dunn & Bradstreet.

Dorothy loved her family, dancing, fishing and traveling. Vincent and Dorothy completed visits to all of the 50 states the year of their 50th anniversary, 1994. She was an active volunteer in the Muscular Dystrophy Program for 15 years, was a Girl Scout leader, the Credit Union Program, and was secretary for the Flag Day Parade for 15 years.

Survivors include her children, Ken (Ann) Kemen, Dubuque, Iowa; Tom (Mary Beth) Kemen, Suamico, Kitty Geringer, Rothschild, Wisconsin; and Teri (Lonn) Wisniewski, Schofield; her grandchildren, Kevin Kemen, Dubuque, Iowa; Ted (Jamie) Kemen, Suamico; Bethany (Nate) Ashmead, Suamico; and Charity (Dave) Bachmeier, St. Paul, Minnesota. Dorothy is further survived by 10 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Vincent, and daughter Kaylene.

Funeral services for Dorothy will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2015, at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, 537 N. Superior Street, Appleton, with Fr. William Hoffmann officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in Little Wolf Cemetery in Manawa, Wisconsin. The family would like to thank Kathy, Linda, and all of the staff at Cedar Creek Manor Assisted Living for all the wonderful care they gave Dorothy the years she lived there.
