Dorothy Mossholder

March 15, 1919 — August 5, 2003

Age 84, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2003 at Care Partners in Little Chute. Dorothy was born in Seymour on March 15, 1919, daughter of the late Jacob and Margaret (Lohman) Van Wyk. On May 18, 1940, she married Herbert Mossholder; he preceded her in death on January 14, 1984. From 1944 to 1990 Dorothy worked alongside her husband and son at the well-known Mossholder Cheese factory in Appleton. She enjoyed crafts, raising houseplants, caring for her flower garden, and many will remember her as a witty sheephead player. She was a former member of the Golden Agers and their choir, as well as an area Homemaker’s Club, the Judith Circle and Quilting Club at First English Lutheran Church, and was a 4-H Leader. She also was a member of the Greenville Grange and a longtime a faithful member at First English Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her son: Larry (Lois) Mossholder; three granddaughters: Bonnie Zillmer and her children Justin and Cassandra; Lisa Mossholder and her son Brandon; and Becky (Paul) DeMuth and their children Rebecca and Lucas, all of Pulaski; two sisters-in-law: Lucille Van Wyk of Seymour and Eva Heatherly of Davenport, Washington. Dorothy is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sisters Margaret (Walter) Roloff and Catherine Van Wyk; and brothers Herbert (Alice) Van Wyk, Joseph Van Wyk, Anthony Van Wyk, and Neil Van Wyk.

Funeral services for Dorothy will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 8, 2003 at FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 326 E. North Street in Appleton with Rev. J. Christian Quello officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 – 8 PM and again Friday at the church from 10 AM until the hour of the services.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the entire staff at Care Partners in Little Chute. You gave mom a place to call home and treated her as though she were your very own. Your kindness and concern will never be forgotten.
