Dorothy was born in Appleton on April 22, 1930, daughter of the late George and Beatrice (Archambeau) Schumacher. On August 29, 1953, she married Earl Schroeder, Sr. The couple spent fifty-five wonderful years together until Earl's death in 2008. They were blessed with five children: Earl (Debra) Schroeder Jr. of Greenville; Cynthia (Larry) Nussbaumer of Appleton; Michael (Rumi) Schroeder of Hilbert; Ricky (Michele) Schroeder, Sr. of Appleton; Pamela (Don) Nielson of Forest Junction; her grandchildren: Laura Schroeder, Lisa (Ken) Krause, Eric Schroeder, Kim (Clint) Seidl, Terry (Arry) Nussbaumer, Nicole Nussbaumer, Kayla Schroeder, Joshua Schroeder, Ashley Schroeder, Emelia Schroeder, Allyn Schroeder, Ricky Schroeder, Jr., Dale (Wendy) Nielson, Amy (Robert) Ruelle, and Jenny Nielson; twenty three great-grandchildren; a sister: Dora Smith of Appleton; three sisters-in-law: Nancy Schroeder, Joan Schroeder, and Ann Schumacher; and a longtime and dear friend: Adris Butler. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Earl, a son Gary (Lee) Schroeder, a sister Betty Dreier, a brother Robert Schumacher, and brothers-in-law Kenneth Smith, Robert Schroeder, Norbert Schroeder, Rich Gloudemans, and Larry Dreier.

Dorothy enjoyed traveling around the country and spending time outdoors at the cottage. There she loved to feed the wild animals, walk her dogs, camp, fish, and make an occasional visit to the casino. Most of all, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her family meant the world to her, and she will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
