Dorothy Jones

Dorothy Cobb Jones, age 95, of Appleton, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2016.

She was born in Hopewell, VA on February 17, 1920 to Robert and Bertha (Pinchback). She married William Jones and they became parents to a son and a daughter. She taught elementary school for 35 years in Colonial Heights, VA, and helped pioneer their Special Education Program. She and Bill retired to Deltaville, VA until his death when, she returned to Appleton to The Heritage to be closer to her daughter and son-in-law. While in Deltaville, she was active in the Lower Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the local library.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Terry (Carter) Jones and an “adopted daughter” Jo Anne (John) Bolt III. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill and brothers, J.A. Cobb and R. J. Cobb.
