Age 94, died Wednesday evening, January 28, 2004, with her family at her side. She was born December 6, 1909, to the late Harold and Lu (Sharp) Robbins, in Chicago and had been an Appleton resident for over 60 years. Dorothy had been employed by Gloudeman’s Department Store for 15 years. She belonged to book clubs and enjoyed bowling, gardening, and crafts. Dorothy was a longtime member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, where she was a member of the Ladies Circle, assisted with the Home Tours and clothes collections, she was on the Library Committee, and visited shut-ins of the church. Survivors include her children, Pam (Vern) Geiger, Neenah; Paula Gelbke, (Vince Bushell), Milwaukee; Lori Gelbke, Appleton; two grandchildren, Beth (Jim) Wendt, Appleton; Paul (Leanne) Gerhardt, Sidney, Australia; two great grandchildren, Ramsey and Harper Wendt; a brother-in-law, Carl (Evelyn) Gelbke, Appleton; four sisters-in-law, Agnes and Katherine Gelbke, Betty Jo Robbins and Agnes Robbins; nieces and nephews, and a good friends, Bobby Carlson and Anita Losli. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul R. Gelbke, June 8, 2002, two sister and three brothers. Funeral services for Dorothy will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 31, 2004, at FIRST CONGREGATIONAL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, 724 East South River Street, with reverend Jane Weeden officiating. Burial will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 am, Saturday at the church. A memorial fund is being established in her name.

Dorothy will be missed dearly by her family and they would like to thank the staffs of Home Instead Senior Care, Encore Senior Villa and Brewster Village for their loving care and support.
