Age 91, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 7, 2008 at her residence in Big Falls, Wisconsin. She was born on January 4, 1917 to the late Louis and Isabelle (Koester) Orphal. On December 20, 1935, Dorothy married her loving husband, Harold August Christen, at First English Lutheran Church.

Dorothy is lovingly survived by her children: Karen Beth Christen of Big Falls, Carla Marie Laurance of Wayzata, MN; grandchildren: Catherine Waung, Linda Perry Christen, Laura Stiehl, Gina Johnson, Joel Christen, Jeremiah (Ahava) Christen, Daniel Wade Laurance, Julie Anne Laurance; twenty-two great-grandchildren and daughter-in-law, Charlotte Christen of Bedford, MA. Dorothy considered this wonderful family to be her legacy.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Harold August Christen, who passed away on August 29, 1995 and their son, Jerold Walter Christen, who passed away on March 11, 2003.

Funeral Services for Dorothy will be held on Monday, February 11, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 209 S. Allen Street, Appleton, with Rev. Kurt Kovanen officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
