BURTON, DOROTHY E. “SMOOCH”

Dorothy Burton, 88, of Kaukauna, passed away on Monday, April 19, 2010 after a six week battle with cancer. She was born on August 7, 1921 in Kaukauna, the daughter of Charles Wiedenhaupt and Agnes (Vanevenhoven) Zimmerman. Dorothy graduated from Kaukauna High School and Rockford Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1944. She married Floyd McCormick on September 6, 1947 and he preceded her in death in 1959, she then married George Burton on January 31, 1961, who preceded her in death in 2001. Dorothy was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, the Butterfly Card Club and the Kaukauna Electric City Post 3319 VFW Auxillary. She enjoyed watching her grandkids in many sporting activities. Dorothy was a Packer, Bucks and Badger fan until the end. She looked forward to her Wednesday night bowling league and her Friday appointment at Uptown Cuts to get her hair styled with Lory and the girls. Smooch had many fun times with family and friends at Porgie's Bar.

She is survived by her children: Pat (Bev) McCormick; Timm (Deb) McCormick, Erin (Rich) Quella and George “Porgie” Burton; daughter-in-law: Diane (Gene) Randerson; grandchildren: Sean McCormick and Kelly (Pete) Hall; Maureen and Kayla McCormick; Heidi, Holli (Tony) Tierno, Ryan and Robyn Quella; Logan Burton; Katie (Nick) LaFave, Maggie (Kevin) Vonck and Mike McCormick. Dorothy is further survived by her great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Mike McCormick and her sister, Violet (Red) Welhouse.

The funeral liturgy for Dorothy will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street, Kaukauna. Father Tom Pomeroy will be officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. The visitation will be held TODAY, Wednesday, April 21st at Fargo Funeral Home from 4:00 until 8:00 pm and again at the church on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name.

Special thanks to Dr. William Guenther and all the staff at 3 South at Appleton Medical Center. The family would like to thank all of Dorothy's special friends, especially Florence and Dorothy for the time and memories they shared together.
