Dorothie L. Roovers, of Kimberly, died peacefully at home on Saturday, August 13, 2011. She will be missed by many relatives and friends, particularly her loving and devoted husband, Peter, of almost sixty-four years (August 16, 1947), and her two children, Karen (Steve) Ruys of Wauwatosa, and Karl (Mary Jean) Roovers of Green Bay. Dorothie is also survived by six grandchildren: Nicholas Ruys and Jaclyn (Elliot) North; Emily (special friend Chad Weise) Roovers, Elizabeth Roovers, Samantha Roovers and Christian Roovers; and great-grandchild, Isabelle Cherny.

Dorothie was born September 22, 1919, and raised in Mishicot, Wisconsin. She was the sixth of eight children (Celia, Marie, Agnes, Emily, Daniel, Josephine and Leo) born to Andrew and Agnes (nee Norkosky) Wergin, all of whom have preceded her in death. Dorothie is survived by two sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

After graduating from Whitewater State Teachers' College in 1942, Dorothie began teaching high school commercial (business education) courses first in Necedah, then in Gresham, in Pulaski, at Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, and ending her teaching career at Menasha High School. Dorothie was a life-long camping enthusiast, which allowed her to indulge her favorite pastimes of berry picking, jam making, nature hikes, and sharing stories with many new acquaintances from all places and walks of life.

The funeral liturgy for Dorothie will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 17, 2011, at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH – KIMBERLY, 600 E. Kimberly Avenue. Father David Beaudry will be officiating. Interment will take place at the parish cemetery. The visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 am until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Jude's Children Hospital are appreciated.

Dorothie's family would like to thank the many caring and professional ThedaCare At Home Hospice team members for their long-term support. The family especially appreciates the caring neighbors who contributed to their comfort in so many ways.
